Which Road To Jerusalem?
3000 years ago, the road to Jerusalem was the road to prosperity. All major trade routes went through Jerusalem on the way to the Orient in Solomon’s time, Israel’s wisest king.
In 1997, “Road to Jerusalem” was code-name for Iran’s military exercises with ~300,000 soldiers. Iran pours huge resources into terrorist groups against Israel.
The Bible offers a relevant view current events. We are all on Solomon’s Road to Jerusalem (true prosperity), or Iran’s road that will make Jerusalem an omen of what happens when we are not open to Solomon’s wisdom.
How surprised a spy might have been if he could have crept into Solomon’s Temple to learn the secret of Israel’s greatness was not an idol with gems, but a law–a law enabling wise decisions in all life situations!
King David wrote, “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.” Ps 19 If we had to repay five sheep for every sheep we stole, it would convert us. Exodus 23:1.
Governments are crumbling as millions rebel against unfair laws. Biblical laws, internalized by those who honor God’s wisdom, make external government unnecessary, but “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.” John Adams, 2nd US President.
The Industrial Revolution took fathers to factories for easy money and work. Families no longer worked together. Now women also work outside the home and kids go to schools or watch TV to learn everything their parents say is wrong. Which Road to Jerusalem are we traveling?
The Jews who claim ownership of Jerusalem failed Scripture. Solomon said, It is the glory of God to conceal a matter and the honor of kings to search it out.” Speaking of God, Solomon asked, “What is His name, and what is His Son’s name, if you know?” Prov 30:4.
But the Jews didn’t want to “search out” the “Son’s name,” nor the meaning of Abraham’s saying, “God will provide Himself a lamb” (Gen 22:8) or the crucifixion in Psalm 22 or the lamb role in Isaiah 53, or the time of Messiah in Daniel 9:25. Murdering the prophets, Jewish leaders did the same after John declared Him as “the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world,” John 1:29-32.
Road to Jerusalem begs a deeper look to see the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD as a result of rejecting Truth, and since we have poor memories, God arranged it as the first sign of “the end of the world” in Matthew 24:3. We are about to get an up-date.
The impending destruction of Jerusalem will be a watershed event to separate those who seek Solomon’s wisdom on how to live life well v those who miss the significance of the prophetic event and end on the road to self-destruction.
The destruction of Jerusalem? “Behold, the day of the Lord is coming…For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city shall be taken, The houses rifled and the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity,” Zechariah 14:1,2.
“The day of the Lord” was signaled by several events* in 2015, but the end-time period of 7 years that most scholars agree on, could not begin until after the sabbatical (7th) year of 2016. End-times must begin in 2017 as a separate week of years as formatted in the Bible, Leviticus 25.
The event will be a rude awakening and a ‘heads-up’ for everyone that a time of judgment is impending. It will focus a month after Passover on the US as a professed “Christian” nation that’s more like the fig tree cursed by Christ in Matt 21:19—it had leaves but no fruit, as the Jewish nation did then.
Christ cited the withered tree as an introduction to His last parables all with the same 2nd Passover timing, “as the days of Noah” or “like a man traveling to a far country.” (Matt 24,25) If Israelites took a long trip in spring and couldn’t get back for Passover, they were to keep it the 2nd month, Numbers 9:10,11.
If we understand the wedding parables (Matt 25 and Luke 12:36-47) and are ready, “He will make [us] ruler over all that He has” but we will be beaten with stripes if we shrug this off. Christ offered the highest reward* but serious loss to motivate us.
